GCA Resigns Allstar Ace
May 15th 2005,
CHILI, NY--
For the past few weeks, team GCA was unsure of the future of their ability to compete in Sunday Night Softball without a starting pitcher. Last summer, rookie Jason Hantes led team GCA to a perfect 7-0 record with three strikeouts and a amazing 9.08 ERA in 63.0 IP. Last night, talks between GCA managment and Jason Hantes began on behalf of his future in the league.
GCA managment was not looking to sign the league's most historic pitcher but to simply find out if he was going to play with a different team. Talks were underway and hours later, a proposal was offered to resign Hantes to team GCA. Hantes agreed to contract extension lasting throughout the 2005 season.
"It was never my intent to leave the team and sign with another" Jason said. "I have too much to owe to the team for making me something out of nothing to just leave and move on. I like the atmosphere in the ball club and to be honest, feared I would regret not playing for them"
Frank Battaglia, playing in his upcoming rookie season, shared a few thoughts after catching wind of the developing story. "I have to say I like the idea of Jason coming back into the league and resigning with team GCA. Last year I heard rumors of the young gun and feared a poor rookie season offensivly if I had to face him at the plate. Now I can take a deep breath, relax, and prepare mentaly in the batter's box"
Hantes will be the team's starting pitcher for the entire 2005 season. Preseason ball is scheduled to begin tomorrow, May 15th at 4:30pm EDT with the season set to begin soon. |
