League Transactions
May 8th 2005,
CHILI, NY-- On May 6th, 2005, GCA player Chris Maggioli issued a trade request to team managers Andrew Reynolds, Matt Williams and Chris Scarbrough. Trade talks were then initiated with the captain of Poncho's Ranchos, Anthony Perrone. Perrone was very limited on who was available to be traded, and as a result, no actual trade was made. Maggioli then alerted to GCA that he would then be prepared to hold out the entire season if a trade was not made, so in turn, GCA has done the only other option and released Chris Maggioli.
To fill the void left by Chris's departure, GCA made contact with Frank "The Tank" Battaglia on May 6th and scheduled a tryout for earlier today. GCA is pleased to announce that Battaglia has been signed to GCA for the 2005 season. We feel Battaglia has the ability needed to fill the void left by Maggioli in the speed department as well as a decent bat and the glove necessary to play a solid second or first base.
"I'd like to start out by thanking team management for seeing the potential that I possess," Frank said during the 28 minute press conference following the tryouts. "Secondly, I'd like to thank my family for always being there." Frank is the 5th new member of team GCA in the upcoming 2005 Sunday Night Softball season.
